Project Zomboid VHS Tapes for Skills

Project Zomboid has gained a large amount of viewers on YouTube lately with people being extremely intrigued about the game. YouTubers have been able to draw attention to the game with numerous challenges, just like some did on Minecraft. Not exactly the same thing, but the idea is in the ball park. Well turns out gamers that dying is quite easy in Project Zomboid. You can die due to disease, injuries, car crashes, fires, bleach, falling, and zombies. However, the worst way to go is to get scratched, lacerated, and bitten meaning you will potentially be ZOMBIFIED.

Zombification and Dying

In this game death isn’t really treated the same way as any other game. Dying is almost part of the gameplay meaning you will most likely die a few times prior to learning some lessons. Even the most experienced player can find themselves in a pickle when they enter a building, open a door, and next thing you know there’s 10 zombies ready to rip into your flesh. Of course you felt the same way as most of us did with anger seeping out of your pores. Zombification can occur in the following circumstances:

  1. Scratches: If you get a scratch on your body it doesn’t necessarily mean you got it from a zombie. In Project Zomboid, the realism is kicked up a notch compared to most games. Jumping over fences, walking over broken glass, and crashing in a car can all cause scratches on your character. However, when you get scratched by a zombie there’s the problem.
    • 7% chance of zombification.
  2. Laceration: These are a bit more dangerous than scratches to your body. Again you can get these from numerous methods, but the most dangerous is getting a laceration from a zombie. These will make you bleed out faster and need to be treated most of the time. Just note that if it says it’s infected, it doesn’t mean zombification infected, but a bacterial infection.
    • 25% chance zombification.
  3. Bitten: Danger and I mean ULTIMATE danger. Getting bitten is basically a death sentence in Project Zomboid with the original zombie settings.
    • 100% chance of zombification.

Everyone will get upset when dying in Project Zomboid originally. Except when you’ve ranked up all of your skills, found VHS tapes, and essentially lose your keys to the car you’re using. Now you won’t be just angry, but you’ll be absolutely furious. Rage quitting isn’t off the table in this type of instance since you spent countless hours in real life and days in the game. The most important thing you’re going to lose on your character toward the late game is the skills.

Getting Zombified?

There are three main symptoms of getting zombified:

  • Queasy
  • Unpleasantly Hot
  • Anxious

So if you weren’t sure about getting zombified yet. There you go, all three of these pretty much mean doom. Just make sure you actually got hit by a zombie whether it was a scratch, laceration, or bite.

Skills in Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid features a variety of skills that players can develop to improve their chances of survival. Each skill enhances certain aspects of gameplay and can be leveled up through practice and usage. Here’s an overview of the main skills in the game:

Conclusion

Project Zomboid has recently experienced a surge in popularity on YouTube, akin to the attention Minecraft once received, thanks to the engaging challenges showcased by YouTubers. This increased visibility highlights the game’s unique approach to survival horror, where death is not just a possibility but an integral part of the experience. The game’s realism is accentuated through various death scenarios, from zombie attacks to mundane accidents, with a notable emphasis on the dread of zombification, which can occur through scratches, lacerations, or bites from zombies.

The game’s depth is further enriched by its complex skill system, allowing players to enhance their survival chances through various activities like cooking, carpentry, farming, and more. These skills are crucial in navigating the harsh realities of the game’s world, where every decision can mean the difference between life and death.

Adding a unique twist to skill development are VHS tapes, which come in retail and homemade varieties. These tapes serve as a novel way to learn and improve skills, offering an alternative to the traditional grind of skill leveling. They cover a wide range of topics, from cooking and carpentry to mechanics and first aid, providing a vital resource for players looking to enhance their survival skills efficiently.

Overall, Project Zomboid’s blend of realistic survival mechanics, skill development, and the ever-present threat of zombification creates an immersive and challenging experience. It’s a game that not only tests players’ survival skills but also their ability to adapt and learn, making each playthrough a unique and engaging adventure.
