Shiny Jirachi – Wish Granted Quest

Shiny Jirachi will be catchable in Pokémon Go from February 20th, 2023 to March 20th, 2023 through a special research pass. The pass will cost around $5.00 or five pounds depending on the local currency in your region. This research task was accompanied by another event going on concurrently known as Hoenn Tour – Las Vegas. The Las Vegas event was completely sold out and happened on February 18 to February 19.

Due to the event that happened in Las Vegas:

  • Bag space increased to 5,250
  • Pokémon storage increased to 6,250
  • New music was added inspired by Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire
  • New Hoenn stickers from Feb 17 to Feb 26
  • New Kyogre tracksuit, Groudon tracksuit, and Kecleon Bag

Rewards in the Shiny Jirachi Pass

Now lets get back with the Shiny Jirachi special research pass known as Masterwork Research: Wish Granted. Players attending the Vegas event had the first chance of obtaining the shiny Pokémon Jirachi. They were given a shorter questline and will not be able to purchase the longer global masterwork research pass. One thing trainers and players are upset about is the fact that the Shiny Jirachi pass was not giftable. It’s currently unknown why Niantic decided to make this decision, but now it’s more difficult for parents to gift their children the pass. In the event pass there is a few rewards to note which Niantic let us know before buying the pass:

  • 9 Rare Candies
  • 20,405 Experience Points
  • 12,700 Stardust
  • 2 Poffins
  • 2 Incense
  • 30 Ultra Balls
  • 20 Jirachi Candy
  • 10 Groudon Candy

Big Question

Whether or not collectibles in games are worth it depends on the individual player’s preferences and goals. In this case it will be a question about if Pokémon Go players feel like the shiny Jirachi quest pass is worth spending their time and money. Some people might even unenjoyably buy and and get Jirachi for the sake of having it.

Collectibles can offer several benefits to players. They can provide a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when players successfully collect them all. Collectibles can also offer rewards, such as unlocking new content or providing in-game bonuses. In this case with Pokémon Go there are some rewards for completing the research pass and the ultimate goal is obtaining a Shiny Jirachi which may never be available in the game again. Huge problems with this is that it creates a massive amount of FOMO or fear of missing out to the players.

Collecting all the items in a game can be time-consuming and require a lot of effort. Some players may find it tedious and not worth their time. Additionally, if the rewards for collecting all the items are not significant, some players may not feel motivated to complete the collection. A great example in the game is people’s shiny collection. Many times over an individuals collection could become less rare if shiny Pokémon are reintroduced into the game multiple times.

Ultimately, the value of collectibles in games depends on the individual player’s preferences and priorities. Some players may find collecting all the items to be a fun and rewarding challenge, while others may prefer to focus on other aspects of the game.
